I haven’t written much on knives at this point, mainly because I’m concerned that people will be overly hasty and endanger themselves and others. And let’s be clear, when knives are involved, lives are at stake. However, there’s so much dangerous misinformation about knives out there, that I’ve decided to start posting more on them, both to keep people safe, and also to share my thoughts on what’s best, and what’s not…in my humble opinion.
That being said, for those who need an EDC knife, there’s perhaps none as optimal as Spyderco’s Paramilitary 2. There are many versions of this knife, a number of which I have available on my astore, Pat Smith Martial Arts Store, but the one I’ve linked to in this post, might be the most aesthetically pleasing, and low-profile of the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 versions, namely the Gray CPM Cruwear Folder. There are only a limited number of those in stock, so if you want to get yours, you should act fast and order here.
Why is the Paramilitary 2 such an ideal EDC? Mainly because it is incredibly sharp, keeps its edge very well, is so easy to sharpen when need be, is incredibly sturdy, is low profile, as far as knives go, passes the test of legal carry in most states (but be sure to check your local laws before carrying a knife outside of your home), and can be used for just about any task you expect an EDC to be used for…in fact, the Paramilitary 2 exceeds most other EDC options (more on this in future posts). The Paramilitary 2 is the blade I typically have on my person. With Spyderco’s signature thumb hole, the Paramilitary 2 deploys incredibly quickly, if you were ever to need it in a self-defense situation (more on this in future posts). I’ll be posting more on blades in the future, and am currently working on a book on this topic, so stay tuned. In the meantime, get your Paramilitary 2 today, while they’re still in stock!
